Life is what you make of it

Published: February 29th, 2008

chrisdesouza.com - life is what you make of it

Life is what you make of it! – Sure, this is a cliche, but an often accurate one.

I happened to come across a blog with the same title written by Oke.  I was immediately taken in by the sincerity of his words, the uncommon wisdom and the genuine outreach to communicate from one human to another.

By reading “Life is what you make of it”, I discovered that there was no hidden attempts to mask the author’s superiority on any subject. There was no effort made to show his expertise on any given platform. There was no hidden sales messages. There was nothing sold, nothing brought. There was no effort to monetize page views, traffic, adsense this, paid clicks that.

Oke just had a blog to capture the sands of time imprinted on his life. And he merely wanted to share this with the world. Reading “Life is what you make of it” made me realize that the blogosphere is not that untamed beast where every man, woman and child is laying claim to a publishing maven. No!

There are folks like Oke, who keep the blog world as simple in it’s purest form. A medium of communication as opposed to monetization. “Life is what you make of it” is a refreshing blog from a personable individual, who wants to better himself and the world around him.

Read it now and read it often. You will love it and learn as well.

Like Oke, we all seek to live a meaningful life in some form or the other. To that end, let us strive to be complete.

Lionel Richie – My Top 10 Musician & Lyricist

Published: February 27th, 2008

When I was in my teens, I adored Lionel Richie. The Grammy awards then, held a special meaning to me. Michael Jackson never came close to the affection I had for Lionel. Listen to these beautiful soulful renditions and you will see (and hear) why!

Talk To Kids About AIDS

Published: February 26th, 2008

Reading this New York times article made me squirm. It features a movie on AIDS prevention as seen and portrayed by 2 young girls aged 4 and 6.

chrisdesouza.com - talk to kids about aids

Talk to kids about AIDS? How about talking to kids about the Bible or the Torah or the Quran? How about talking to them about morality? How about talking to them about what personal responsibility is all about? How about teaching them not to grow up to be social whores and sluts and not have multiple sexual partners, whether be it at any point in their lives or spread over a lifetime?

How about teaching them that we are humans and we should not be living like animals? How about teaching them some good old common sense? How about engaging kids with a kids world rather than exposing them to the garbage that is being shown on prime time television with more than sexual innuendo? A life of immorality guised as funny television!

chrisdesouza.com - talk to kids about aids

What this movie fails to do is confirm our acceptance of immorality in guise of personal freedom. So long as we lead a life of sin, AIDS will be there with us looking for a cure. We as adults have come to THIS – That we have to now take comfort from a 4 and a 6 year old innocent kid to feel at ease addressing the madness, we grown ups have spread far and wide.

Let kids be kids. Stop the violence, sex and subtle and not so subtle sexual lifestyle being splashed on TV, Cable, so called Music and in our media. Stop this dating and mating garbage that kids are exposed to. Most kids and teens don’t even practice proper hygiene after using the toilet, let alone know how to exercise safety about engaging in sex. And we expect them to be safe from diseases! Yes, the mighty condom will save your kids from disease and death.

The western world has only one solution for AIDS and other STD’s. Condoms.

Where is celibacy? Where is morality? Where is common sense?

If you have kids, what do you think they will be doing in a parking lot when they turn 13? And you will be at work or perhaps at your mistress home doing the same. Behind holding doors for someone behind you, behind the “You are welcome”, behind the acts of superficial civility, we are in a social landfill, where anything and everything goes.

This society is in a moral dumpster. On cannot solve the ills of society with a condom.

Stop living like an animal. Teach your kids to do the same. There is a cure for AIDS and possibly all the ills that afflict humans.

Follow the word of God. Stop the hypocrisy that is entwined with freedom and keep young kids out of it. They deserve better than to take our cause, when all they should be doing is playing in the sun, await for their Christmas gifts and do all the things kids should do.

Published: February 26th, 2008

oh desert speak to my heart oh woman of the earth maker of children who weep for love maker of this birth till your deepest secrets are known to me I will not be moved I will not be moved

don’t try to find the answer when there ain’t no question here brother let your heart be wounded and give no mercy to your fear

adam and eve live down the street from me babylon is every town it’s as crazy as it’s ever been love’s a stranger all around in a moment we lost our minds here and lay our spirit down today we lived a thousand years all we have is now

run to the water and find me there burnt to the core but not broken we’ll cut through the madness of these streets below the moon these streets below the moon

and I will never leave you till we can say, “this world was just a dream we were sleepin’ now we are awake” till we can say in a moment we lost our minds here and dreamt the world was round a million mile fall from grace thank god we missed the ground

run to the water and find me there burnt to the core but not broken we’ll cut through the madness of these streets below the moon with a nuclear fire of love in our hearts

yeah, I can see it now lord out beyond all the breakin’ of waves and the tribulation it’s a place and the home of ascended souls who swam out there in love!

run to the water and find me there burnt to the core but not broken we’ll cut through the madness of these streets below the moon with a nuclear fire of love in our hearts

rest easy baby, rest easy and recognize it all as light and rainbows smashed to smithereens and be happy run to the water (and find me there) run to the water
