Construction Kicks Motivation’s ASS
Did you read the latest book by Donald Trump? - Think BIG and Kick Ass.
Do you see the effectiveness in that title? The first part is to Think BIG. It is all about the mind, the planning and the decision making. The second part is to Kick Ass. This is where the real thing happens. You see Implementation, Action, Transformation and finally Results. The results are either negative, positive or stagnant. But results, you will see!
Have you ever been to a construction site? Do you know who is in charge there? The architect and the supervisor. They are responsible for building stuff. You don’t see any motivational mambo jumbo going on over there, do you? Stuff has to be moved. Floors have to be built. Finishing touch has to be given. And all of this takes ACTION and hard work.
Too many bullshitters, who claim to be entrepreneurs spend most of their time with books, tapes and seminars. Those are essential and sometimes priceless. But, at some point you get educated enough. Once a bird knows how to fly, the bird need not engage in further training. The next phase in training comes from your actions, trial and errors and simply putting yourself in the battle field.
Most bullshitters who call themselves entrepreneurs are simply talkers and no wonder they are not going anywhere in life. They talk, talk, talk and talk some more. If you ask them, “what did you do yesterday?, or if they can document in writing what specific action they took to influence a deal, a sale or acquiring clients, they will perhaps have no clue.
Too many bullshitters call themselves entrepreneurs by whiling their precious time away. These bullshitters hang out amongst some genuine entrepreneurs and think they are one among them. Their actions defy logic. They do not take risks. They do not try out new stuff to make their business better. They give excuses upon excuses to delay critical action required for their business and blame their way to nothingness.
Please don’t call yourself an entrepreneur if you are bullshitting your life away. Take some radical decisions and go out of your way to make things happen. Granted, you will not find positive results all the time. But, if you call yourself an entrepreneur, don’t indulge in the “play safe” game. You will lose most of the time by living a mediocre life. Look at people around you. You will see what I am talking about.
Learn to take big risks. Do something you have never done before. Stop thinking poor by clinging on to the few dollars you have saved up. Take drastic action. And I am not even suggesting that you play blackjack at the casinos.
You can’t kick ass if you don’t have strong feet. You can’t kick ass if you don’t lift your legs far and high enough. If your business has no “legs”, it won’t be able to kick ass.
Attending seminars, networking, listening to motivational tapes and videos is all fine and dandy. But realize this that money only flows your way by way of providing a service or a product or selling that specific product or service. If you don’t know how to sell, if you don’t attend to the business of selling everyday, if you are not actively looking for a customer before the day is over, if you have no means to forecast a transaction by the end of the day, you will be forever listening to tapes and videos. You will be forever attending seminars and networking events. You will be forever reading books and how to guides.
At some point the THINK BIG is big enough. Then it gets to a point where you will need to KICK ASS. And that is hard my friend. Because it involves HARD WORK on a daily basis. On a consistent basis. There is no resting there.
If you haven’t kicked ass today, then stop bullshitting by calling yourself an entrepreneur simply because you belong to a group or a business club. You are nothing but a con (wo)man deceiving yourself and there is no bigger fool on the planet who ends up deceiving the self.
How many hours are left before you can take your sorry ass to sleep? Stop dreaming. Take some action. Take some risks. Prepare for a TRANSACTION. Find a customer. Make a sale.
I don’t care how highly you think of yourself. Your bank balance will tell you exactly how smart you are.
Don’t wait to get motivated to do something. Act and then your motivation will follow your actions.
Everybody likes to think BIG. Not everyone can kick ASS.
This may not apply to all of you. But you bullshitters, you know who you are!
Now stop bullshitting by calling yourself an entrepreneur and go kick some ASS!
